For this year's Fund-a-Need, we are taking a step inside, with our school’s first big interior project.
Waldorf schools take seriously the idea that children learn from their surrounding environment, and the school building is a teacher too in this way. It is for this reason that great emphasis is placed on making spaces both beautiful and intentional. Camellia's teachers do an incredible job with their classrooms, ensuring that students have a warm and welcoming environment to learn in. Yet, Camellia's busy halls and front office stand somewhat alone, still reflecting the building's original look of the 1980s.
The Redwood Building is home to the main office, the central hub, the heart of our school. Every day, students frequent the halls and visit the office for a multitude of reasons, whether it is for a band-aid or ice pack, to make a call home or to check in, our school’s office is a busy place. The front office also offers a first impression for visitors and a special place for parents to gather, ask questions and build community.
This year’s goal is to raise $38,000. With this, we will be able to renovate the Redwood Building which includes:
- Replace the flooring and baseboards in the front office and halls
- Paint the interior of the front office and hallways
- Update the front desk with a more natural, organic feel
- Create a beautiful feature wall behind the front desk
