Bringing Beauty to Our Community

This past year has certainly been unusual and unlike any other, where we have been mostly socially isolated and distant. As the situation with the coronavirus improves, we are looking forward to one day being able to gather again and making the space for that.

Recognizing this, our 2021 Fund-a-Need is about beautification and community. It’s about showing love for our school, love for our community, and love for our campus and neighborhood. It’s about having the outside of our school reflect the inside and who we are.

Our goal for our 2021 Fund-a-Need is to continue to transform our campus by beautifying the front entrance outside of the school. Our plan is to create a beautiful place to serve as a welcoming spot for parents, children, and visitors alike.

An inviting and welcoming place in the front of the school would be a place for parents and younger children to gather and visit with each other after school. It would provide a space for our older students to wait to be picked up after school and to wait for carpools once after-school sports start up again. And, a pretty pathway through the redwoods would provide a more welcoming entrance to those who arrive on foot.

Our goal this year is to raise $30,000. With this, we will be able to:

• replace the broken concrete in the front of the Redwood Building
• plant Camellias at the front entrance
• replace the shrubs in front of the Redwood Building with wooden benches for community seating and native plants and decomposed granite for ground covering
• beautify the redwood pathway on the side entrance of the campus
• add lighting to our sign in the front by trenching to bring electricity to that location

Any money raised beyond our goal will allow us to also:

• repair the two front entry and exit gates to the parking lot
• repaint both the Redwood and River Buildings
• paint the interior of the hallways and purchase art that reflects the diversity of our students
